250W HPS

The 250W HPS grow lights from Osram have been around since the very first HPS lamps were used as a lighting source to grow plants. Still growing strong today; these lights are extremely reliable and consistent, producing fantastic results time and time again.

HPS lighting produces light in the red and yellow spectrum, mimicking the light provided by the autumn sun. Therefore, as many flowering / fruiting plants usually bloom at the end of summer and in to the autumnal months; they naturally respond exceptionally well to a decent HPS lamp.

The abundance of red and yellow colour spectrum in HPS lamps, along with limited output in the blue spectrum, means that using a HPS grow light during the productive flowering / fruiting stage of development will help promotes optimal growth and a high flower to leaf ratio. Ultimately, using this 250W HPS grow light at the right stage will boost your plants and increase your overall yield.

Many professional growers choose to use a mixture of HPS and blue spectrum emitting metal halides in their grow rooms; often using a ratio of two HPS lamps for every metal halide lamp. This set-up provides a complete spectrum of plant usable light and often is a winning formula for producing happy, healthy plants.

Our Opinion

As far as HPS lamps go, this 250W HPS from Osram is still one of the best lamps on the horticultural market, and is a key reason why Osram have remained a market leading manufacturer. If used right, this light will boost the performance of your plants during that all-important flowering and fruiting stage of development; just remember to replace your HPS bulbs around every 8 months as they do degrade over time.
